Now that they are freed from the thugs' rule of terror, the citizens of New Kelp City declare SpongeBob their new mayor. Meanwhile, SpongeBob's old friends from Bikini Bottom realize that they miss their yellow buddy, and are desperate to find him and bring him back home. But now that SpongeBob has fame and glory in New Kelp City, will he ever want to go back?

But Mr. Krabs assures him that making up stories for the paper isn't lying, it's using your imagination! SpongeBob discovers that making up stories about the people in Bikini Bottom is a lot of fun-but the people he's writing about don't think so.
